Birdshack Shutters Red Hills Road Branch, Scouts New Kingston Home

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Birdshack’s brief experiment on Red Hills Road ends this Saturday, 19 July 2025, as parent company Arya Resort Management Group prepares to lock the doors after just 11 months of service.

Chief Executive Officer Wayne Cummings informed patrons via the restaurant’s social pages, expressing gratitude for their support while confirming that a hunt is under way for a more strategic Kingston address. “As soon as we secure the right site, you’ll be the first to know,” Cummings said, without elaborating on the decision to leave the busy corridor.

The branch opened on 1 August 2024, staking territory in a fiercely competitive stretch already dominated by KFC, Popeyes, and an army of pan-chicken vendors. Customers praised the brand’s signature crunch but frequently lamented two drawbacks: scarce parking and the absence of a drive-thru. Those hurdles, paired with entrenched rivals, appear to have clipped the location’s wings.

Birdshack’s Ocho Rios and Montego Bay outlets will continue cooking as usual while the company plots its Kingston comeback. Until then, fried-chicken devotees will have to venture beyond the capital — or settle for the competition next door.
