Gordon Pen Sporting Event Erupts in Gunfire, Suspect in Custody

In a startling turn of events at a community sporting gathering in Gordon Pen, St. Catherine, 21-year-old Falcon Gayle of West End was arrested and charged this week under the Firearms Act. Authorities allege that during a heated dispute on the grounds in April, Gayle exited the venue and returned armed, discharging a round at a male attendee who narrowly evaded injury.

Following that initial shot, Gayle is accused of threatening a female participant by pointing the weapon at her. Local law enforcement, acting on a tip, conducted a targeted operation on Monday that culminated in his apprehension. After a formal interview—conducted in the presence of his legal counsel—Gayle was officially charged with assault at common law and illegal firearm possession.

The case is set to be heard at the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday, July 25. Community leaders have decried the violence, emphasizing the need for stricter oversight at public events to safeguard attendees.
