Andrew Holness Nominated Unopposed for Another Term as JLP Leader

KINGSTON, Jamaica — In a decisive move, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Area Council One has confirmed the nomination of Andrew Holness to continue as the party leader for another year without opposition.

During a meeting held on Monday night at the Pembroke Hall Community Centre in the St Andrew North Western constituency, the nomination was proposed by Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, the Member of Parliament for St Andrew West Rural. Dwayne Smith, recently announced as the JLP’s candidate for St Andrew North Western following the resignation of Dr. Nigel Clarke, seconded the nomination.

Additionally, Kingston Western MP Desmond McKenzie was also nominated unopposed to retain his position as Deputy Leader of the party, solidifying the leadership structure as the JLP gears up for future challenges. The nominations reflect a strong consensus within the Area Council, highlighting Holness’s ongoing support among party members.
