Clarendon Businessman Slapped with Multiple Charges After Heated Dispute Escalates

A Clarendon businessman is now facing several criminal charges following a violent confrontation that reportedly spiraled out of control in Bushy Park earlier this week.

Police have identified the accused as 44-year-old David Morris, a resident of Central Avenue in the parish. According to law enforcement reports, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when an argument between Morris and another man took a physical turn.

During the dispute, Morris allegedly assaulted the man, tearing his shirt in the process. The altercation intensified when Morris is said to have brandished his licensed firearm, pointing it at the victim while issuing threats. The confrontation left the complainant nursing injuries consistent with assault occasioning bodily harm, and property damage was also reported.

A subsequent report to the police prompted an immediate investigation, leading to Morris’s arrest. He has since been charged with assault at common law, use of a firearm to commit a felony, assault occasioning bodily harm, and malicious destruction of property.

Authorities confirmed that his court date is yet to be finalized as investigations continue.
