Shericka Jackson Returns to Form with Commanding Win in Rabat Opener

RABAT, Morocco — Jamaican sprint star Shericka Jackson made a confident return to the 100m track on Sunday, powering to victory in her season opener at the prestigious Meeting International Mohammed VI in Rabat — part of the 2025 Wanda Diamond League circuit.

Jackson, competing in her first 100m since last year’s national trials, overcame an early stumble to dominate the field and clock a smooth 11.04 seconds (0.2 m/s), ahead of Liberia’s Maia McCoy (11.08s) and the USA’s Jacious Sears (11.11s).

The meet, held at the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah, saw Jackson emerge as the lone Jamaican victor amid a night of mixed results for Team Jamaica.

Olympic shot put bronze medalist Rajindra Campbell came within inches of gold, throwing a personal season-best 21.95m to finish second — narrowly edged out by American Payton Otterdahl’s world-leading 21.97m bomb in the final round.

In the 400m hurdles, Andrenette Knight continued her impressive form with a season-best 53.90s, earning second behind Dutch World Champion Femke Bol, who shattered the meet record in 52.46s. Fellow Jamaican Rushell Clayton placed fourth with her own season-best of 54.83s.

In the high jump, Romaine Beckford and Raymond Richards both cleared 2.21m, finishing fifth and ninth respectively, as the top contenders cleared 2.25m.

Meanwhile, veteran middle-distance runner Natoya Goule-Toppin clocked 1:59.92 in the women’s 800m final, placing 10th in a fast-paced field.

With her eyes set on global titles, Jackson’s performance in Rabat signals a strong start — reminding the world that Jamaica’s sprint royalty is very much in the hunt this season.
