The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) hosted its highly anticipated annual general meeting (AGM) on Sunday at the St. Kitts Marriott, St. Kitts. The meeting marked a significant moment in the association’s ongoing development, as it re-elected the current executive team and appointed its second female director to the board.
Held alongside the Women’s Super50 tournament, the AGM provided a unique opportunity for participating players to engage with the association’s progress and take a closer look at its achievements over the past year. This alignment further emphasized WIPA’s commitment to fostering stronger connections within the women’s game and expanding its leadership.
In a show of strong support, the membership unanimously re-elected the entire executive team, ensuring a seamless continuation of leadership until 2027. Wavell Hinds, who has been steering WIPA since 2011, was re-elected unopposed for his seventh consecutive term as president. Alongside him, Vice-President Nixon McLean, Honorary Secretary Wayne Lewis, Assistant Secretary Liam Sebastien, and Treasurer Ridley Jacobs were all re-elected for another term of service.
The highlight of the meeting was the appointment of Rashada Williams as the second non-elected female director to the WIPA board, joining Shakera Selman in an influential position that strengthens the association’s commitment to gender equality and diversity in leadership.
In his remarks, WIPA President and CEO Wavell Hinds expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support from the membership. “I am honored by the trust and confidence shown in me and my team,” Hinds said. “Our focus remains on prioritizing the needs of our players and continuing to drive forward with our vision. We are excited to welcome Ms. Rashada Williams to the board and look forward to the success of our leadership in the years ahead.”
