St Andrew Businessman Faces Firearm and Ammunition Charges

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A well-known businessman from Farewell Avenue in St Andrew is now in police custody after an illegal firearm and ammunition were reportedly uncovered at his Constant Spring Road establishment during a specialized law enforcement operation conducted on Friday, December 6.

The accused, identified as 47-year-old Michael Nelson, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

According to preliminary reports, a team of officers carried out an intelligence-driven operation at Nelson’s place of business between 9:00 am and 1:30 pm. During the course of the investigation, Nelson reportedly surrendered a Taurus GZC pistol fitted with a magazine containing six 9mm rounds.

Following a formal question-and-answer session held in the presence of his attorney, Nelson was taken into custody and subsequently charged. Authorities have not yet announced his court date.
