Kingston Man Facing Ammunition Charge After Police Pursuit

KINGSTON, Jamaica—A 32-year-old Kingston resident is set to face the courts after police allegedly discovered illegal ammunition on his person during an operation in Oakland Avenue on Friday evening.

The individual, identified as Orville “Pappy” Lewis—also known by the nickname “Saviola”—was detained following a focused law enforcement action that began around 6:30 pm. Acting on intelligence, the police reportedly approached a property in the area where multiple individuals were gathered. Upon spotting the approaching officers, the group is said to have scattered, prompting a foot chase.

Once apprehended, Lewis and the other detained men were searched. Officers say they recovered two .40 hollow-point rounds of ammunition in Lewis’s pocket. He was taken into custody and has since been formally charged with unauthorized possession of ammunition. Authorities are currently finalizing his date to appear before the court.
