Kim Jong Un Allegedly Executes 30 Officials Following Deadly Floods

NORTH KOREA — In a dramatic response to the recent floods and landslides that ravaged North Korea, Kim Jong Un is reported to have executed 30 officials in August. The severe weather events in July, which struck the Chagang province, led to the deaths of over 4,000 people and displaced approximately 15,000 others.

The UK-based news outlet, The Independent, reports that the officials were executed for their alleged failures to address the disaster and manage the aftermath effectively. The charges against them included corruption and neglect of duty. The report states that Kim Jong Un directed authorities to “strictly punish” those deemed responsible for the catastrophic impact.

North Korean state media have yet to confirm or refute these reports, leaving the precise details of the purported executions shrouded in uncertainty.
