Gramps Morgan Sets Sights on America With Solo Headline Tour

Gramps Morgan is stepping into a new chapter of his career. Following a triumphant performance aboard Japan’s Mighty Crown Far East Reggae Cruise, the Grammy-winning vocalist is preparing to launch his first-ever headlining solo tour across the United States.

The “No Water in My Whiskey Tour”, which begins September 25, spans 21 shows across multiple states. Stops include Hartford (Connecticut), Brooklyn (New York), Virginia Beach (Virginia), Bethesda (Maryland), Minneapolis (Minnesota), Plano (Texas), and Tarrytown (New York).

Building His Own Stage

For years, Morgan has been a familiar name through his family band Morgan Heritage, as well as collaborations with reggae greats. But this time, he’s determined to carve out his own presence in the American market.

“I’ve never truly focused on America as a solo touring artist,” Morgan explained. “The times I’ve been here, it was either with Morgan Heritage or as part of someone else’s show. Now, people want to see my full set, and I intend to deliver. My goal is to build my name while also presenting Jamaican culture to country music fans and introducing them to reggae.”

Roots and New Horizons

Among the many tour stops, Brooklyn holds special significance. Born in the city, Morgan views the performance as both a return and a celebration in front of one of the largest Caribbean communities in the U.S. At the same time, he’s eager to break into new territories, including Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and San Antonio, Texas.

Joining him on the road are his sons, Priel and Jermere, who will serve as opening acts. Select cities will also spotlight local performers, further broadening the cultural reach of the shows.

Japan’s Unmatched Energy

Reflecting on his recent cruise experience, Morgan praised Japan’s long-standing embrace of reggae. “Since the late ’80s, Japan has shown unwavering love for reggae and dancehall. The respect, the energy, the families bringing their kids—it’s incredible. To perform there feels like home away from home.”

Giving Back With Guitars

Philanthropy is also stitched into the tour. Partnering with Free Guitars 4 Kids, Morgan will give away 15 guitars during the run.

“It’s about sparking inspiration,” he said. “Most kids today are glued to screens. I want to show them that music is just as powerful—maybe more so. A guitar is portable, simple, and life-changing. If even a handful of kids fall in love with music through these gifts, then it’s worth every effort.”

A Defining Moment

For Gramps Morgan, this tour represents more than performances. It’s a statement of identity, a blend of reggae roots and new ambition. By taking the stage in cities both familiar and foreign, he is planting the seeds of a long-term solo presence in the U.S. market while sharing the cultural heartbeat of Jamaica with new audiences.
