Aventa Champions Pharmacists at PSJ’s Ruby Milestone

Aventa Jamaica placed pharmacists firmly at the center of the national healthcare conversation as it joined the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica (PSJ) in celebrating the organization’s 40th Annual Conference. The four-day event, staged September 4–7 at the Princess Grand Jamaica Hotel in Negril, drew healthcare leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders under one banner of collaboration and renewal.

From the opening ceremony, Aventa’s leadership team emphasized a simple truth: strengthening healthcare starts with empowering pharmacists. CEO Glenise Durrant reminded attendees that the company’s role extends beyond sponsorship. “This is about investing in people—the ones who connect science to the patient standing across the counter,” she noted.

Putting Pharmacists First

The company’s visible presence at the conference underscored its focus on continuing education. Earlier this year, Aventa hosted a training seminar that drew more than 1,200 participants—an initiative Durrant says is only the beginning. Plans are already underway for additional large-scale learning sessions in 2026, with pharmacists once again at the center.

Anchoring the Network

In her remarks, Indera Maharaj, Commercial Director, reaffirmed that quality is the standard by which Aventa measures every decision, whether in supply, service, or partnerships. That philosophy has guided the company’s expansion across Jamaica and the wider region—including Trinidad, Barbados, Curaçao, and Aruba.

Group CEO James Walker added perspective on Jamaica’s role: “This market is unique in both scale and significance. Pharmacists here aren’t just dispensers; they’re the bridge between innovation and the public. Our job is to make that bridge stronger.”

Partnerships and Portfolio

The company used its exhibition space to showcase an expanding product mix—from over-the-counter essentials to specialty pharmaceuticals and personal care. At the same time, Aventa highlighted its growing alliances with major international principals, relationships that have bolstered reliability and broadened access for Jamaican patients.

Looking Ahead

As the PSJ’s Ruby Edition closed, Aventa made clear that the work is far from finished. With investments planned in infrastructure, product accessibility, and workforce development, the company intends to deepen its imprint on healthcare in Jamaica.

Reflecting on the conference, Walker offered a final takeaway: “This was more than an event—it was a signal of what’s possible when industry and practitioners stand together. We leave Negril energized, committed, and ready for the next chapter.”
