ST ANN, Jamaica — With the general election weeks away, People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for St Ann North Eastern, Dr Ryan Simpson, is urging voters to make their voices count, stressing that the constituency and the country are at a pivotal moment.
Speaking after formally entering the race on Nomination Day, August 18, Simpson told supporters that silence at the ballot box only strengthens the hold of the existing order.
“Choosing not to vote is still a choice. It is a vote for things to remain exactly as they are,” Simpson declared.
The first-time candidate positioned himself as an alternative to what he described as the stagnation of recent years, emphasizing his readiness to provide representation anchored in accountability and service.
“North Eastern St Ann needs leadership that reflects the will of the people, not recycled politics,” he said. “I am committed to standing firm for this constituency and ensuring no voter feels abandoned once the campaigning ends.”
Simpson called on residents to step forward with confidence on September 3, framing the election as a defining point for Jamaica’s democratic future.
