Rae Town Altercation Leaves Two Relatives Dead

KINGSTON, Jamaica — An otherwise quiet Sunday in Rae Town erupted into violence when a family argument escalated into a double fatality, police reported.

Investigators say the incident unfolded shortly after 3:00 p.m. when a man—known in the community only as “Rashad”—allegedly attacked his 43-year-old cousin, Niesha Williams, with a knife during a dispute inside a premises on Paradise Street. Williams was rushed to hospital but did not survive her injuries.

Responding officers from the Kingston Eastern division located the suspect a short distance away. According to the preliminary police account, the man advanced toward the team while still armed. The officers discharged their weapons; the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are interviewing relatives and neighbors to establish the motive behind the confrontation, while the Independent Commission of Investigations has launched its routine inquiry into the police shooting. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Kingston Eastern Criminal Investigation Branch or call Crime Stop at 311.
