Ruthless Rout and Rising Rivals: Women’s Premier League Hits Critical Stage

The Jamaica Women’s Premier League took a thrilling turn this weekend as dominant performances and do-or-die victories defined the latest round of action. Defending champions Frazsiers Whip unleashed a demolition job, while other title contenders sharpened their blades for the final push toward the semi-finals.

At the Courtney Walsh Oval, Frazsiers Whip dismantled Springers United in a merciless 14-0 victory, a result that sent shockwaves through the league. The reigning champions extended their perfect season to 14 wins in 14 matches, securing a semi-final spot with six games still on the calendar.

League top-scorer Davia Richards continued her campaign of terror, striking four times to push her season tally to 28. She was ably supported by Shaniel Buckley and Sahai Panton, who both netted twice. Goals from Natoya Atkinson, Ackelia Johnson, Destiny Powell, Tiny Seaton, Tajay Stephenson, and Devonae Lewis rounded off the massacre. Springers, now eliminated, have conceded a staggering 82 goals in 13 games—more than six per match.

Cavalier delivered their own statement of intent at Alpha Boys’ Home, crushing Proven Girls 11-1. Shanel Spence led the assault with five goals, moving to 25 on the season and keeping the Golden Boot race alive. Kersha Thomas added two more, while Tamara O’Sullivan, Shadie Shirley, Oneillia Perkins, and Stephanie Morgan also etched their names on the scoresheet. Jasmine Brown scored the lone goal for Proven Girls in an otherwise one-sided affair.

Down in Montego Bay, Los Perfectos solidified their third-place status with a 4-1 triumph over Real MoBay. Venecia Reid recorded a hat trick, scoring in the 16th, 33rd, and 79th minutes, while Sashana Campbell added a crucial strike to fend off a second-half comeback. The win keeps Los Perfectos just ahead of Arnett Gardens, who remain in hot pursuit.

Arnett, for their part, dispatched UWI Women’s FC 3-1, condemning the university side to a fourth consecutive loss. Shikira Douglas struck twice, and Briana Crosby added the insurance goal. Daneisha Hall’s effort for UWI offered little solace as their campaign continues to spiral.

Meanwhile, WiFi United showed flashes of resilience, edging Federal United 2-1 for their second consecutive victory. Early fireworks came from Evernique McCleary, who opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Although Adriana Hall equalized for Federal shortly after, Tashel Davis restored WiFi’s lead before halftime—sealing the match.

With the regular season winding down, the race for playoff spots is heating up. Frazsiers Whip may have secured their place, but the battle behind them promises drama, goals, and heartbreak in equal measure.
