From London Blocks to Kingston Streets: D Blackz Ignites with Unfiltered Anthem of Grit

KINGSTON, Jamaica — With raw lyrics and a firebrand presence, rising dancehall talent D Blackz is commanding attention both in the UK and back home in Jamaica. His breakout track, Muhammad Ali, is making waves in local corners and global circles alike—not for its hype, but for its honesty.

“It’s not just a song, it’s a mindset,” said the UK-based artist, born Oshane Spaulding. “Ali was more than a fighter; he was a statement. That’s what I want this track to be.”

Shot deep within the pulse of McGregor Gully on Mannings Hill Road, the music video for Muhammad Ali is more than just visuals—it’s a declaration of authenticity. No filters, no gloss. Just the raw life D Blackz came from.

Raised along Maxfield Avenue before migrating to London at 13, D Blackz’s foundation was built on sound systems, schoolyard freestyles, and street dancing. Known in those early days as “Dancer Blackz,” he was trailed by a growing crowd who admired his charisma and fearless energy at London dancehalls. That same tenacity pushed him into the studio.

“Music gave me a way to speak when words alone couldn’t,” he said.

His first track, My Life, dropped in 2010—a gritty reflection of survival, ambition, and what it means to grow up with limited options. Today, D Blackz fuses grime’s edge with dancehall’s heartbeat, creating a hybrid sound that speaks to a global generation of urban dreamers.

“D Blackz is the side of me that fights back. He doesn’t sugarcoat. He’s for the youth with no silver spoon, the ones building legacy from the bottom,” he said.

As his fanbase swells and bookings pick up across the UK and Caribbean, the rising star is already preparing his next move—an EP designed to dig even deeper into his journey.

“This is just the warm-up. The full story’s loading,” he said.
