ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A 30-year-old woman, Sadene Green, has admitted to the 2017 murder of Fitz Albert Barnes, a Canadian pensioner, during a hearing at the St Catherine Circuit Court on Tuesday.

Green, a resident of Edgewater Avenue, Portmore, was charged after the body of the 82-year-old Barnes was discovered in May 2017, wrapped in a tarpaulin at his residence on Young Street in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

Following a thorough investigation by the Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB), Green was arrested in 2018. A post-mortem revealed that Barnes had died from multiple stab wounds and blunt-force trauma to the head.

Green’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 4, 2025.
