According to CariCRIS, Barita’s strong regional presence and dependable financial standing are reflected in the following newly assigned ratings:
- CariBBB+ (Foreign Currency) and CariA- (Local Currency) on the regional scale
- jmA (Foreign Currency) and jmA+ (Local Currency) on the Jamaica national scale
In its official report, CariCRIS highlighted Barita’s capacity to meet financial obligations and commended its good governance practices. These factors, combined with prudent risk management, contributed to the favorable assessments. The agency also assigned a “stable” outlook, suggesting that Barita is well-positioned to maintain its momentum in the Jamaican securities industry over the coming year.
CariCRIS pointed to several factors supporting Barita’s ratings, including its history of solid profitability, effective capital management, and strong asset quality. It also emphasized Barita’s track record of steady rollovers in repurchase agreements, though noted that a high concentration in Jamaica’s economy represents an inherent risk for the company.
