Kingston, Jamaica – In a troubling incident that unfolded on Saturday evening in Riverton Meadows, Kingston 11, a 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged for her alleged involvement in the shooting of a man and the subsequent theft of his motor vehicle.
Keifa Lee Gilchrist, a chef from Fourth Street in Greenwich Town, Kingston 13, now faces charges of wounding with intent following an investigation by detectives at the Hunts Bay Police Station.
According to police reports, the events began around 7:20 p.m. when the victim, a customer service representative, agreed to transport Gilchrist to Riverton Meadows under the guise of retrieving a personal item. Upon reaching the location, Gilchrist reportedly exited the vehicle and instructed the victim to follow her. Moments later, a gunman approached the vehicle and opened fire, injuring the driver.
The victim was then forcibly removed from his vehicle, and both Gilchrist and the armed assailant fled the scene in the stolen car.
The police launched an investigation into the incident, which led to Gilchrist’s arrest and subsequent charges. Law enforcement officials are continuing their efforts to apprehend the second suspect involved in the attack.
The victim, who sustained gunshot wounds, is receiving medical care. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the other suspect to come forward.
