MANCHESTER, Jamaica â A devastating accident on Sunday morning along the Butt Up main road in Manchester resulted in the deaths of two motorcyclists, highlighting the ongoing dangers on Jamaica’s roads.
The victims have been identified as 31-year-old Anthony Cunningham, a resident of Butt Up district, and 22-year-old Paul Newman, from Greenvale in Manchester.
According to police reports, the collision occurred around 1:38 am when the two motorcycles, traveling in opposite directions, collided head-on. The impact left both riders with severe injuries.
Emergency services transported the injured men to the Mandeville Regional Hospital. Cunningham was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 2:40 am, while Newman succumbed to his injuries at 4:55 am.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, which marks yet another tragic incident on Jamaicaâs roads. The police are urging motorcyclists and other road users to exercise caution, adhere to traffic laws, and prioritize safety to prevent further tragedies.
