KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Government of Jamaica remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate a public sector known for its dedication to excellence and continuous improvement, says Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Fayval Williams.
Addressing attendees at the Jamaica Civil Service Long Service Awards Ceremony held at King’s House on Wednesday, Minister Williams highlighted the government’s focus on delivering top-tier services. “We are aiming for nothing short of world-class service delivery,” she declared, stressing the importance of ongoing innovation and efficiency in the public sector.
“The awardees here today exemplify the very best of public service,” Minister Williams continued. “They not only follow best practices but also contribute to shaping the future of public service through their leadership and dedication.”
The Minister emphasized the importance of adapting to change in a world where government operations are increasingly shaped by technology and global competition. “The ability to think innovatively and implement smarter systems is now more critical than ever,” she said. “The commitment shown by these long-serving individuals demonstrates the public sector’s drive to evolve and meet the needs of a rapidly changing world.”
Techa Clarke Griffiths, President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA), also expressed her admiration for the awardees. “Your tireless service and unwavering dedication inspire us all,” Griffiths noted. “You have set a new standard for excellence, and your integrity serves as a beacon for others to follow.”
The ceremony recognized 497 civil servants for their exemplary contributions to the public sector over the course of 25 years or more. Their achievements were celebrated through citations that underscored their vital role in advancing Jamaica’s development.
