Jamaica Shuts Down Key Services in Anticipation of Tropical Storm Rafael

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tropical Storm Rafael’s approach has prompted island-wide closures, including critical public services. Courts throughout Jamaica will be closed on Tuesday as a proactive safety measure, according to the Court Administration Division (CAD). New dates for affected court cases will be announced soon, with plans to reopen on Wednesday if weather conditions allow.

The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) has also suspended in-person teller services as part of its storm response, prioritizing the safety of both staff and the public. Despite this pause, the BOJ will activate essential protocols to ensure that fundamental banking operations, particularly for financial institutions, remain stable during the weather event.
