Hanover Man Charged with Assault and Robbery After Violent Home Attack

HANOVER, Jamaica — A local tire repairman has been taken into custody and charged with assault and robbery after a shocking incident in Sandy Bay. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ian Buchanan, allegedly attacked a woman in her own home on Friday.

The incident unfolded around 1:26 PM when Buchanan visited the woman’s residence. After she requested that he leave, tensions escalated into a heated argument. It is reported that during the altercation, Buchanan struck the woman several times, resulting in visible injuries, including bruises and swelling.

In a distressing turn of events, he reportedly seized the woman’s purse, which contained cash and personal belongings, before fleeing the scene. The victim promptly contacted the police, leading to Buchanan’s swift arrest. Following identification by the victim, he has been charged and is currently awaiting a court appearance, with the date yet to be confirmed.
