Colin Bell Steps Down as PNP Caretaker for Portland Eastern

Colin Bell has announced his withdrawal from his role as the People’s National Party (PNP) caretaker for Portland Eastern. In a video released on YouTube, Bell attributed his decision to a lack of support from certain councillors within the constituency.

“I am not going into politics to lose, and if there are forces against me within my space, sometimes you have to give people what they want,” Bell stated. He urged his supporters to back the new PNP candidate who will be appointed to represent East Portland in the upcoming general election.

Bell had been selected by the PNP last year to contest the Portland Eastern seat currently held by Ann-Marie Vaz of the Jamaica Labour Party. His withdrawal marks a significant shift in the party’s strategy for the constituency.
