Late Winner Lifts Arnett Gardens Over Waterhouse in JPL Clash

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Arnett Gardens continued their impressive run of form on Monday night, battling from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Waterhouse at Drewsland Stadium in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL).

Waterhouse, eager to bounce back from a recent slump, appeared to be in control after Javane Bryan unleashed a low drive from distance in the 53rd minute, leaving goalkeeper Anthony Bennett helpless. The strike ignited the home supporters, but their celebrations were short-lived.

Just two minutes later, Roderick Granville leveled the contest for Arnett Gardens, pouncing inside the area to finish from close range. The goal shifted momentum, and the visitors began to dictate the tempo.

Substitute Shai Smith proved to be the difference-maker. Introduced in the 62nd minute, he combined with veteran forward Fabian Reid in the dying moments of the game. Reid’s precise pass split the defense, and Smith calmly slotted home in the 85th minute to seal all three points.

The win marked Arnett Gardens’ third consecutive triumph, pushing them into fifth place in the standings. Waterhouse, meanwhile, suffered their second straight defeat on home turf, slipping to eighth with six points.

Earlier in the double-header, Spanish Town Police FC picked up their first-ever JPL point, grinding out a goalless draw against Chapelton Maroons—a week after recording their first goal in the competition.

With momentum on their side, Arnett Gardens now look poised to climb even higher in the table, while Waterhouse face pressing questions about their early-season consistency.
