Security Forces Enforce Tight Curfew in Rockfort

Kingston, Jamaica — Law enforcement authorities have locked down sections of Rockfort in Kingston East under a strict 48-hour curfew, citing rising tensions in the area.

The measure, which took effect at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, will remain in place until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13.

Area Under Restriction

The curfew covers a broad zone of Rockfort with specific checkpoints:

  • North: Marl Road stretching to Pleasant Height Road, with a cut line across to Hillcrest.
  • East: Wareika Road spanning from D’Aguilar Road to Hillcrest, looping back to Marl Road.
  • South: The intersection of Windward Road and Lucas Road across to Oliver Road, reconnecting with Marl Road.
  • West: Windward Road extending from the junction with Wareika Road.

Movement Controls

Residents within these boundaries are required to remain indoors for the duration unless they have explicit clearance from the officer in charge of the operation.

Authorities say the curfew is designed to reduce the likelihood of violent flare-ups and to secure the area while investigations and operations are underway.
