MANDEVILLE, Jamaica – Golfers across the island will soon gather in Manchester as the Rotary Club of Mandeville launches its first-ever Charity Golf Classic on August 24. The event promises not only a spirited day on the greens but also a powerful purpose behind every swing.
For more than six decades, the Rotary Club of Mandeville has anchored itself as a driving force of service and community action. This year, the club is setting its sights on a mission that goes straight to the heart—literally. The proceeds from the tournament will go toward placing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools, public spaces, and high-risk communities throughout the parish.
“This initiative is about safeguarding lives in those critical moments when every second counts,” said representatives from the Club. “We want trained hands and vital equipment ready wherever they are needed most—whether in a school hallway, a public park, or a community center.”
In addition to installing AED units, the project includes structured training for teachers, staff, and community leaders, ensuring that emergency response becomes second nature for everyday citizens.
Local enterprises, civic organizations, and individuals are encouraged to partner with the Club in advancing this vision. The Rotary emphasizes that the event is more than a tournament—it’s a community rally to protect families and fortify public health in Manchester.
