Sabina Park Switches On: Jamaica Lights the Stage for West Indies-Australia Pink-Ball Showdown

Kingston, Jamaica—Sabina Park is set to glitter under the glow of its brand-new floodlights this Saturday when the West Indies and Australia square off in a historic day-night Test.

Sports Minister Olivia Grange confirmed this week that every technical box has been ticked. A lighting consultant, retained by Cricket West Indies, has certified the freshly installed towers after a final round of calibration and precision focusing. “We’re green-lit—literally and figuratively,” Minister Grange quipped.

The venue’s digital makeover is also on schedule. The mammoth LED scoreboard has already gone live, while its smaller companion is in the final 24-hour software installation sprint. “By first ball, fans will enjoy crystal-clear replays and real-time stats,” Grange assured.

With infrastructure locked in and the clock winding down, the minister issued a rallying cry to cricket lovers across the island: “This is a milestone for Jamaican sport. Let’s fill the stands and celebrate ‘cricket, lovely cricket’ as our boys in maroon take the field under lights.”
