KINGSTON, Jamaica — On May 6, CB Foods brought stories to life for young minds as part of its island-wide literacy outreach, marking Read Across Jamaica Day with engaging reading sessions at primary schools, including Jamaica House Basic.
Ditching the boardroom for the classroom, CB Foods team members immersed themselves in storytelling sessions with eager K2 students, reading homegrown tales like The Adventures of Perni the Worm by Eleasia Charles and titles from Kellie Magnus’ Little Lion series. The initiative was part of a larger campaign that reached over 600 students across 13 schools.
Rather than just a day of reading, the event became a celebration of Jamaican storytelling and imagination. Interactive comprehension games and prize giveaways turned the sessions into an experience—igniting joy and curiosity in classrooms where the love for books continues to grow.
“We were thrilled to welcome CB Foods into our classrooms,” said Jamaica House Basic Principal Veronica Burnett. “Their involvement means more than just books—it reflects a deep, ongoing investment in our children’s growth. The kids lit up with excitement.”
CB Foods, a division of the CB Group, has steadily expanded its role in community engagement, with a clear emphasis on youth development and education. Assistant Brand Manager Samantha Fisher emphasized the deeper impact of their presence.
“Nation-building begins with the next generation,” said Fisher. “By promoting literacy, we’re giving our children the tools to dream bigger and reach further. This isn’t just corporate outreach—it’s our responsibility.”
The event underscores CB Foods’ vision for a more literate, empowered Jamaica—one story at a time.
