CAYMANAS PARK — Racing fans were left buzzing on Saturday after an underdog performance lit up the track. Champion Bubbler, a six-year-old bay mare, roared to victory in the $1.75-million Reggae Trophy, turning heads with a commanding run down the 1,000-metre straight.
Trained by Spencer Chung and overlooked by bettors at 10-1 odds, Champion Bubbler shattered expectations in the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance showdown, toppling heavily favoured contenders with a final time of 59.1 seconds.
Jockey Tajay Suckoo, in a display of sharp racecraft, kept the mare tucked just behind the early leaders before launching her forward with power and poise near the dummy rails. The move proved decisive—Champion Bubbler surged ahead to seal her third consecutive win at the five-furlong trip, finishing a narrow but emphatic three-parts of a length ahead of Pack Plays and Is That A Fact.
The win was part of a productive day for Suckoo, who also claimed victory in Race 6 aboard Prolific Prince. Meanwhile, trainer Adrian Prince notched a trio of wins with Degaulle, Incredible Jo, and Prolific Prince—all delivering strong performances for their connections.
Jockey Demer Williams also bagged a double, piloting Degaulle and later Burning Valor to the winners’ enclosure.
With the Reggae Trophy now in her collection, Champion Bubbler’s stock continues to rise, adding yet another chapter to her remarkable run of form. The action resumes Sunday, promising more excitement at the track.
