Pakistan Outclasses Short-Staffed West Indies in Final Warm-Up Before World Cup Qualifiers

LAHORE, Pakistan — A depleted West Indies Women’s side wrapped up their World Cup Qualifiers preparations on a sour note Monday, falling to Pakistan by five wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Missing several first-team regulars, including captain Hayley Matthews and veteran batter Shemaine Campbelle, the Caribbean side struggled to impose themselves after opting to bat first. Despite a spirited 68 not out from Shabika Gajnabi and a handy 41 from Jannillea Glasgow, West Indies managed just 188 for eight from their allotted 50 overs.

Pakistan’s spin duo of Sadia Iqbal (3-21) and Nashra Sandhu (2-47) proved especially effective, keeping the West Indies on the back foot throughout the innings.

In response, Pakistan looked composed and in control. Vice-captain Muneeba Ali anchored the chase with a fluent 87 off 113 balls, while Natalia Pervaiz chipped in with a steady 53. Gull Feroza added valuable support with a 28-run knock as Pakistan eased to 192 for five with 23 balls to spare.

This win followed Pakistan’s earlier warm-up triumph over Thailand and sent them into the Qualifiers with growing confidence.

The West Indies Women, meanwhile, must quickly regroup as they prepare for their opening World Cup Qualifier fixture against Scotland Women on Wednesday.
