Falmouth United Shines in Comeback Win; Reno FC and Treasure Beach Continue Strong Performances

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Falmouth United bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Petersfield on Sunday at the Llandilo Sports Complex, maintaining their position at the top of the Jamaica Football Federation Championships Zone B.

Falmouth United had suffered a setback the previous week, losing at home to Treasure Beach, but showed resilience to secure the three points in this contest. Despite the win, Reno FC and Treasure Beach also posted victories, keeping the competition fierce at the top of the table.

In other action on Sunday, Petersfield took an early lead with O’Shawn Neil’s fourth-minute goal, but Falmouth responded quickly, with Mark Lewis leveling the score in the ninth minute. The match remained tied until the dying moments when Tajay Cooper netted the winner in the 88th minute, ensuring the victory for Falmouth.

The win saw Falmouth United extend their lead to 22 points, three points ahead of Reno FC, who moved to 19 points after a commanding 2-0 win over Duncans United. Raheem Kerr opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and Jashane Foster sealed the victory with a goal in the 38th minute.

Treasure Beach, meanwhile, secured a dominant 3-0 win over Holland PYC. Leo Campbell, who has experience in the Jamaica Premier League, marked his return to the score sheet with a second-minute goal, followed by Romario Smith and Antwone Smith, who added two more in the ninth and 36th minutes, respectively.

In Zone A, Meadforest FC held on to their top spot despite a dramatic 1-1 draw against Baptist Alliance. Baptist Alliance, who were a point behind, took the lead in time added on in the first half thanks to Orlando Ricketts’ goal, but Raheem Porter equalized for Meadforest six minutes into added time in the second half.

Lime Hall and Tru-Juice also picked up narrow 1-0 victories. Lime Hall edged Progressive FC with Carlos Campbell’s 60th-minute goal, while Tru-Juice clinched a late win against Grays Inn, with Curtel Lawes finding the net in added time.

In Saturday’s other fixture, Spanish Town Police delivered a dominant performance, defeating Portlanders FC 4-0. Robert Allen, Jahmari Ranger, Oshane Senior, and Jordan Elliston all got on the score sheet for Spanish Town in what was a commanding display of their offensive strength.

As the season progresses, Falmouth United remains firmly in control of Zone B, but with Reno FC and Treasure Beach hot on their heels, every match is becoming a crucial test for the top spots.
