Reggae sensation Koffee remains firmly under the banner of Promised Land Records, despite recent speculation suggesting she had been dropped by RCA Records. Ferdy Unger-Hamilton, the former president of Columbia Records UK and the driving force behind Promised Land, has set the record straight.
Speaking to Splash, Unger-Hamilton dismissed the rumors outright, emphasizing that Koffee has never been signed directly to RCA or Columbia. Instead, her label, Promised Land Records, previously held a distribution agreement with Sony-affiliated RCA and Columbia, which ended over two years ago. Since then, the label has moved under Virgin for distribution.
“Koffee is, and has always been, signed with Promised Land Records,” he confirmed.
The Grammy-winning artiste, who made history in 2020 as the youngest and only female recipient of the Best Reggae Album award, released both her Rapture EP (2019) and full-length album Gifted (2022) under Promised Land. With speculation now debunked, fans can shift their focus to what’s next for the 25-year-old Jamaican talent.
While Unger-Hamilton remained tight-lipped on specifics, he assured that fresh material from Koffee is on the way.
“New music is coming very soon,” he teased.
Born Mikayla Victoria Simpson in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Koffee has cemented herself as a leading figure in modern reggae. Since bursting onto the scene with her breakout single Burning in 2017, she has consistently delivered genre-defying music that blends reggae, dancehall, and global influences.
As anticipation builds, one thing is clear—Koffee isn’t going anywhere.
