StaceyAnn’s Resilient Return: A Journey from Adversity to Musical Triumph

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reggae singer StaceyAnn is no stranger to hardship. After a grueling battle with long-term respiratory complications triggered by COVID-19, she is emerging stronger than ever, ready to reclaim her place in the music industry.

Her ordeal began in December 2022, when she contracted COVID-19 for the third time. The illness took a devastating toll, leaving her hospitalized multiple times across both the United States and Jamaica. Despite extensive medical tests, doctors struggled to pinpoint the root cause of her suffering.

“I was in and out of hospitals, undergoing test after test, yet no one could figure out exactly what was wrong. It became my worst nightmare—the fear of not knowing if I’d ever get better,” she revealed.

A turning point came when she witnessed a fellow patient take their last breath beside her at Annotto Bay Hospital.

“It was a terrifying moment. I remember thinking, ‘Is this going to be my fate too?’ But right then and there, I decided I was going to fight. I became my own advocate, researching, changing my lifestyle, and collaborating with multiple doctors,” she said.

With the help of Jamaican physician Dr. Joseph Wilson and U.S.-based specialists Dr. Melissa Marballie and Dr. Roshan Bashir, StaceyAnn slowly began to recover. Nearly two years later, she is finally regaining a sense of normalcy.

The harrowing experience reaffirmed her passion for music.

“I once walked away from music, but I’ll never make that mistake again. My struggles don’t define me—I do. This year, I am stepping into my power and using my voice to inspire,” she declared.

That conviction shines through in her latest release, Life (Choose to Stay), an emotionally charged anthem about perseverance. Released in February, the track has been met with overwhelming support, striking a chord with listeners who connect deeply with its raw and uplifting message.

“When I perform Life, people cry. They tell me they feel the song in their soul. It’s more than just music—it’s a testimony,” she said.

Born Stacey Ann Mirander, the singer spent her early years in Marlie Mount, Old Harbour, St. Catherine, before moving to Mitchell Town, Clarendon. A Clarendon College graduate, she later pursued higher education at the University of Phoenix in the United States.

Her musical journey began at just six years old when she stunned an audience with an impromptu performance at a Dub Club event at Old Harbour Primary School. From then on, she was hooked, singing at crusades and local events throughout her childhood.

After rediscovering her passion for songwriting in 2020, she co-wrote Love, Wonderful, Love with reggae star Sanchez, which was featured on the album HeartCrafted. Encouraged by producer Bulby York and Solomon “Triple Ess” Salmon, she took the leap into a solo career, releasing Hear Oh Lord in April 2023 on York’s album Time and Color.

Now, with her debut EP in the works, StaceyAnn is embracing her artistry like never before.

“I love the stage—it allows me to tap into a different version of myself, a fearless performer unafraid to explore new sounds. My music blends reggae with world influences, creating something fresh and vibrant,” she said.

As she continues to carve out her place in the industry, StaceyAnn invites fans to follow her journey.

“I’m working on some exciting new music and upcoming performances. Stay connected with me on social media @staceymirander to see what’s next!”

With resilience, talent, and an unstoppable spirit, StaceyAnn is proving that even after life’s hardest battles, the music never stops.
