JUTC Expands Public Transport Network with Two New Routes for Commuters

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has announced the launch of two additional bus routes aimed at improving public transportation accessibility for commuters traveling between Clarendon, St Mary, and the Kingston Metropolitan Area.

The new routes include a Chapelton to May Pen service in Clarendon and a Castleton Gardens to Half-Way Tree route, covering key locations in St Mary and St Andrew.

Enhanced Connectivity and Commuter Benefits

JUTC officials emphasize that these new routes will provide increased travel options and convenience for passengers in rural and urban areas.

Route #504, which links Chapelton to May Pen, is specifically designed to accommodate commuters in Turners and New Longville, offering scheduled bus service from the Spanish Town Depot.

Meanwhile, Route 52B, which began operations earlier this month, connects Castleton Gardens to Half-Way Tree, ensuring smoother transportation through key stops such as Toms River, Temple Hall, and Golden Spring.

Affordable Fares for All Passengers

JUTC continues its push for affordability with competitive fare structures designed to encourage SmartFare card usage.

  • Chapelton to May Pen (Route #504)
    • Adults: $100 (SmartFare Card), $150 (Cash)
    • Seniors: $50 (SmartFare Card), $150 (Cash)
    • Students, children, and persons with disabilities: $50 (SmartFare Card), $150 (Cash)

Expanding Public Transport to More Regions

This expansion follows JUTC’s recent introduction of a Kingston to St Thomas service, further solidifying the company’s commitment to enhancing Jamaica’s public transportation network.

JUTC representatives have assured the public that additional routes will continue to roll out based on demand, ensuring a more reliable and accessible transit system for Jamaicans.
