Championing Tomorrow’s Stars: SW Isaac-Henry Track Meet Gears Up for Exciting Ninth Edition

Jamaica’s young track and field athletes are set to take center stage as the highly anticipated SW Isaac-Henry Track Meet returns for its ninth staging on February 15, 2025, at the National Stadium. The annual event, which has steadily grown in prominence, continues to provide a crucial platform for budding talent, giving student-athletes an opportunity to test their skills in a competitive environment.

Organizers have hailed this year’s meet as a defining moment for youth athletics, emphasizing its role in shaping the future of Jamaica’s rich track and field tradition. With participation from top high schools and emerging talent across the island, the competition serves as an early proving ground for future Olympians and world-class athletes.

At the official launch held at the Spanish Court Hotel on January 30, event stakeholders, school representatives, and sponsors gathered to reaffirm their commitment to fostering youth development through sports. Among the key supporters is Mayberry Investments Limited, a long-time patron of the meet, which continues to invest in young athletes through its sponsorship.

Speaking at the launch, Desiree Wheeler, Marketing Manager at Mayberry, underscored the company’s dedication to the sporting community.
“This isn’t just about a race—it’s about opportunity, growth, and national pride. We recognize that investing in athletics means investing in the future of Jamaica. Our athletes need support at every stage of their journey, and this meet provides them with the exposure and experience needed to excel at higher levels,” she stated.

The event’s impact extends beyond competition, offering mentorship, discipline, and a structured path for athletes to progress toward national and international recognition. St. Andrew Technical High School Principal Worrel Hibbert expressed his appreciation for the role sponsors have played in making this a reality.
“Many of our students see athletics as their gateway to success. With the backing of committed sponsors, we are able to provide an environment that nurtures talent and builds character. This track meet has become an invaluable asset to youth sports development,” he remarked.

As the countdown to race day begins, excitement is building among athletes, coaches, and fans alike. With its reputation as a launchpad for future stars, the SW Isaac-Henry Track Meet continues to solidify its place as a cornerstone of Jamaica’s sporting landscape.
