Bar Owner Tragically Killed in Kingston; Police Investigating

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A devastating incident unfolded last Friday when 47-year-old bar owner Kayon Adamson was fatally shot at her establishment, the Whirl-Away Bar, located on Grove Road, Kingston.

According to the Half-Way Tree police, the tragedy occurred around 5:10 pm when an unidentified gunman entered the bar and opened fire, hitting Adamson. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Nearby residents, alarmed by the sound of gunfire, alerted the authorities. When police arrived, Adamson was discovered behind the bar counter, unresponsive and with gunshot wounds to the head. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community shaken. Adding to the sorrow, Adamson’s death echoes a previous tragedy; her boyfriend, Delroy Thompson, was murdered nearly 11 years ago in a nearby location. Thompson, who co-managed the Whirl-Away Bar with Adamson, was chased and shot on Kew Road.

The police have launched a full investigation into Adamson’s murder and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Residents remain on edge as they grapple with the recurrence of violence in their area.
