KINGSTON, Jamaica – Signaling a fresh chapter in its quest to deliver integrated, future-focused communications, Digicel Jamaica has elevated two Jamaican-born professionals to the forefront of its technical and consumer operations.
Innovation at the Helm
Heading into a new era of network advancement, Digicel has appointed Bjorn Reynolds as Chief Technical and Innovation Officer. Reynolds, who began his journey with the company in 2003 as a customer care agent, now stands at the intersection of engineering and innovation. With academic credentials that include a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Electronics, as well as a Master of Science in Digital Technology from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Reynolds will guide the company’s efforts to fine-tune mobile and high-speed fibre networks. His portfolio includes exploring emerging technologies, forming strategic industry partnerships, and ultimately enhancing the reliability and range of digital services across Jamaica.
“Digicel is primed to take Jamaica’s telecommunications infrastructure to new heights,” said Reynolds. “We are leveraging our local insights and forward-looking mindset to introduce cutting-edge platforms that seamlessly blend voice, data, and multimedia services. It’s an exhilarating period as we position Jamaica at the forefront of digital convergence.”
Expanding the Consumer Experience
In parallel with the company’s technical evolution, Digicel has also broadened the leadership role of Kristalle Chin. After making significant strides as General Manager for Digicel+—the brand’s home internet and TV division—since late 2023, Chin now assumes responsibility as General Manager, Consumer for both Mobile and Digicel+ segments. A former student of Campion College, Chin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Geography from Macalester College in the United States, as well as an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. Her task: unify Digicel’s offerings into a holistic ecosystem, ensuring customers enjoy a suite of interconnected services at home and on the go.
“This is a moment ripe with potential,” Chin noted. “When we merge the strengths of both mobile and home platforms, we unlock meaningful value for our customers. They gain the freedom to access more content, more services, and more connectivity under one cohesive umbrella, all designed to fit their lifestyles.”
Strategy for Seamless Integration
According to Digicel Jamaica CEO, Stephen Murad, these appointments are key elements of a broader strategic push to blend the company’s mobile and home entertainment portfolios into a single, seamless experience.
“We are seeing a transformative stage in the market,” Murad stated. “By investing in accomplished Jamaican talent like Bjorn and Kristalle—who have proven track records, deep industry expertise, and a hometown understanding of consumer needs—we ensure that our customers reap the benefits. This alignment doesn’t just improve our technical and product capabilities; it also places Digicel firmly on the cutting edge of telecom innovation.”
As Digicel evolves, the emergence of these new leaders highlights the company’s commitment to delivering unparalleled connectivity and convergent services—ultimately setting the stage for a more digitally connected Jamaica.
