State Minister for National Security and Member of Parliament for St Andrew West Rural, Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, has issued a strong appeal to Jamaicans to reject Opposition Leader Mark Golding and the People’s National Party (PNP) in the upcoming General Election. Addressing the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) annual conference at the National Arena on Sunday, Cuthbert Flynn criticized Golding’s leadership style and his perceived disconnect from ordinary Jamaicans.
In her address, Cuthbert Flynn dubbed Golding “Marky British,” a nickname that she suggested reflects an elitist persona. She alleged that the PNP leader “boasts about his wealth” and prioritizes the interests of his close associates over the needs of the people.
“We have to say no to ‘Marky British’ because he’s a man who loves to show off, who loves to boast and say he’s already rich,” said Cuthbert Flynn, garnering applause from the crowd. “We don’t need a man like that.”
The MP also took aim at what she described as Golding’s dismissive attitude towards the Jamaican populace, accusing him of using divisive language when addressing black Jamaicans. She further criticized Golding and prominent PNP member Peter Bunting, linking them to what she characterized as exploitative business practices during previous PNP administrations.
“They are the same ones who had a company years ago that benefited from the wicked PNP policies and made millions off the backs of the Jamaican people,” she said, urging Jamaicans to reject what she termed the “topanaris” style of leadership.
Cuthbert Flynn contrasted the PNP leadership with Prime Minister Andrew Holness, praising Holness for his commitment to improving Jamaica. She described him as a “God-blessed” leader, capable of continuing to guide the country on a path of growth and stability.
“It is very clear that we have to say no to Marky British and yes to our God-bless Prime Minister Andrew Michael Holness,” she declared, as the audience responded with cheers.
The conference, which drew JLP supporters from across the island, served as a rallying call for party unity and a reaffirmation of the party’s agenda heading into the next election cycle.
