Cavalier SC Defeat Vere Phoenix in Thrilling 2-1 Victory

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Defending champions Cavalier SC continued their strong start to the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League season, securing a hard-fought 2-1 win over Vere Phoenix United on Sunday at Sabina Park.

From the first whistle, the Rudolph Speid-led Cavalier were on the offensive, with Dwayne Atkinson putting them ahead just 60 seconds into the match. Their dominance in the first half was cemented just before the break, as Jalmaro Calvin calmly doubled their lead with a clinical finish.

Vere Phoenix showed resilience in the second half, pulling a goal back in the 67th minute through Matthew Woo Ling, giving the visitors a glimmer of hope. However, despite late pressure from Vere, Cavalier held firm to secure all three points.

With the victory, Cavalier SC now sit fourth in the league standings with 15 points, having earned four wins and three draws. Vere Phoenix, on the other hand, remain in ninth place with eight points.
