Matthew Samuda Takes Oath as St Ann North Eastern’s New MP

KINGSTON, Jamaica —In a ceremony at Gordon House, Samuda took the Oath of Allegiance shortly after 2:00 PM, marking his transition from the Senate to the House of Representatives. He received congratulations from both sides of the aisle, with Government Business Leader Edmund Bartlett and Opposition Business Leader Phillip Paulwell extending their warm welcome.

Samuda, in his address, expressed his gratitude for the support from his constituents and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their needs. He also acknowledged Marsha Smith, the former MP whose resignation paved the way for the by-election. Samuda highlighted the importance of continuing the work in the constituency and pledged to focus on issues critical to the residents of St Ann North Eastern.

Samuda previously represented the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in the Senate, and now steps into the House of Representatives with a focus on making meaningful contributions at a national level.
