England vs. Australia Third T20 Match Delayed by Persistent Rain

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom — The much-anticipated third Twenty20 international between England and Australia at Old Trafford was delayed on Sunday due to persistent rain. Originally scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm local time (1330 GMT), the start of the match was postponed as heavy rain overnight and into the morning led to deep puddles forming on the pitch and the protective covers.

The official cut-off time to complete a five-over match, which is the minimum required to produce a result, is 5:46 pm (1646 GMT). As of now, both the toss and the match remain on hold, with the weather conditions continuing to impact the playing surface.

The series stands evenly at 1-1, adding to the suspense of the third encounter. England, led by a stellar performance from all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who scored 87 runs, secured a victory in the second T20 in Cardiff on Friday. This came after Australia’s impressive 28-run win in the series opener at Southampton on Wednesday.

Following this match, England is set to face Australia again in a five-match one-day international series, beginning on Thursday at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Fans are eagerly awaiting both the completion of the T20 series and the forthcoming ODI clashes between these two cricketing powerhouses.
