Restaurant Associates Limited Provides Update on Employees Injured in New Kingston Burger King Explosion

Restaurant Associates Limited (RAL), the franchisee of Burger King Jamaica, has provided an update on the employees affected by the explosion at its New Kingston location on Wednesday. The company has assured the public that it is in constant communication with medical teams to ensure the injured employees receive the highest level of care.

RAL has indicated its readiness to facilitate any necessary medical transfers, whether locally or internationally, for those requiring advanced treatment. The company reported that all three employees with visible injuries are currently in stable condition.

In its statement released on Friday, RAL detailed the following: one employee was discharged on Wednesday afternoon after treatment, while two others with burns were hospitalized overnight at Kingston Public Hospital (KPH). On Thursday evening, one of these employees was transferred to the Tony Thwaites Wing at the University of the West Indies for further care.

The company expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the public for their support, well wishes, and concern for the victims and their families during this challenging time. RAL also extended thanks to the first responders for their professionalism and urgency in handling the situation, as well as the brave individuals who assisted in caring for the injured and transporting them to the hospital.

RAL specifically noted its desire to meet with the good Samaritan who promptly transported the injured employee to the nearest hospital, expressing appreciation for their efforts.

Additionally, RAL is committed to addressing the emotional well-being of both the affected employees and any witnesses. The company has arranged for professional counseling services for those directly involved in the incident and for staff members who may have been emotionally impacted.

The company emphasized its commitment to collaborating with relevant authorities and service providers to investigate the incident thoroughly and implement additional safety measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The explosion at the Burger King, New Kingston outlet, reportedly caused by a gas leak, resulted in injuries to six staff members. According to the company, while three employees sustained visible injuries, all six were taken to hospital for assessment and treatment. Fortunately, there have been no fatalities.
